Sorry for the bad pun

I'm always debating about whether we need to strengthen the faith of the people in the pews, or whether we should go out to those who have not heard of Jesus.

I lean towards the mission of the latter, but I recognize that this is a "both/ and" situation. The challenge, of course, is that it is a big job for a parish to take on both.

I came across this passage in Paul's Letter to the Romans, which clarifies how he approached this dilemma:

"I aspire to proclaim the Gospel
not where Christ has already been named,
so that I do not build on another’s foundation,
but as it is written:

Those who have never been told of him shall see,
and those who have never heard of him shall understand."

                                                                       Romans 15:14-21

What is the approach your church takes?
